“I met Scott McKenzie (August 31, 1959 - September 9, 1989) at the Exchange Hotel in Sydney, Australia. It was instant attraction. Scott was a funny, sexy, smart and generous man. He played Australian Football League for @macquarieuni. I moved cities to be with Scott. We only had a year together before he got sick. We never had a chance to live a life together. For the next 18 months, he suffered but never stopped smiling. We played an endless game of Canasta with our friend Amanda every chance we could, thinking while we played, Scott wouldn’t give up. The score got to over 100,000. Scott died a week after his 30th birthday. His parents Jean and Allan, were strong Christians but wonderfully supportive and without them and Amanda, I don’t know how I would have coped. I wonder on this day how Scott would have aged, whether we would still be together. Thinking of you Scott.” — by Geoffrey Stark #whatisrememberedlives
