Mazz Images – Sydney Star Observer (SSO) Collection

This collection contains digitised photographs by Mazz Image for the Sydney Star Observer. See https://archives.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/nodes/view/1969820 for images released from more photographers.  Mazz Image is a photographer and freelance creative. She worked as a photo-journalist in Sydney for 15 years before moving to the United Kingdom. Specialising in portraiture and event photography, Mazz captured LGBTIQA+ events and celebrations while in Sydney, particularly parties and the drag scene.  Mazz Image worked for the Sydney Star Observer in the 1990s and early 2000s but retained copyright ownership of her photographs. For permission to publish or use any photographs commercially please contact Mazz Image (see public access note attached to her images).  Very little descriptive information accompanied the SSO photographs. Archives volunteers have recorded what was available. Some information has been crowd sourced from photographers or the LGBTIQA+ community. The City of Sydney welcomes additional information such as dates, places, names and events. Once logged in and you find a photograph item, you can select the suggested edits function on the TOOLS menu. It is unclear which photographs were published in the magazine, although some have percentage signs (%) indicating the photograph size planned for publication. It is difficult to match photographs to the publication issues. Some photographs from the stock photograph library were culled by editors at various times so the collection is not complete.  Only selected photographs have been digitised and released by the City Archives. For further information please contact the City Archives.  The photographs are copyright. For permission to use and access to the high resolution images please contact mailto:archive@mazzimage. Once permission has been granted the City Archives can provide access to the high resolution images.
