Julian Robert DeSailly (December 29, 1951 - January 27, 1990) was an Australian activist, sous-chef and co-founder of the @unimelb Gay Liberation Front who died in New YorkBorn and raised in Victoria, Julian’s early life was as a co-founder of the Melbourne's original gay liberation movement in February 1972 along with his boyfriend at the time Peter McEwan who is pictured in the second photograph. Julian attended @unimelb. He had many lifes in Melbourne, Sydney and New York. I am not sure exactly when and where I met him but with his height, blonde hair and that Australian accent, I was instantly smitten.Beyond lovers, we became good friends. He laid out plans for my first trip to Sydney including where I stayed and with whom. He also introduced me to an underground art collective in Sydney where I had my first exhibition of my photography at the 1982 @sydneymardigras.” — by Peter J.
