John Malley – Australian AIDS Memorial Quilt panel

Rectangular quilt panel, landscape orientation. White cotton background bordered by floral material on top and bottom edges, and tie-dyed and purple fleece patchwork pieces on the left and right sides. In the centre of panel is a large cross appliquéd in purple patterned fabric with black tie-dyed appliquéd cross underneath. On either side of the cross, in black fake suede letters, are the name 'JOHN MALLEY' and the dates '1952 - 1991'. On the lower left of the panel is a painted rose bouquet stencil and on the lower right is an iron-on transfer of a tropical scene. Down both sides of the panel are three small squares of black background tie-dyed textile.
