Vivienne Munro was one of the first women diagnosed with HIV in Australia and in a time of uncertainty and stigma she was one of the first women open about her status. In the 80’s Vivienne helped to establish Positive Women - a peer network providing support for Women with HIV and advocating for the recognition, rights, support and treatment for Women (who were a forgotten group in the early stages of the pandemic). In the 90’s Vivienne was the Asia-Pacific representative for ICW (International Community for Women Living with HIV/AIDS), where she travelled the world providing peer support, training and advocacy. In this interview she paints a portrait of the time and shares her experience of activism alongside her own journey of living with HIV. Interview and film by Jacqui North in Sydney, 1998
